In 1937, the film Crossroads, directed by SHEN Xiling, was premiered as a unique civil comedy telling how hard young people felt it to make a choice for their life in those days. It is more than eighty years since then, but today, it is still not strange that young people, living in partition rooms, feel anguished at their unemployment or have a taste of pleasure, anger, sorrow and joy.

The drama still features the original characters of different personalities and the development of their destiny, while the plot is enriched in terms of reliable friendship, sweet and shy love, longing for the future, repressed but happy life, etc.

Mr. XU, who has lost confidence to the future, is saved from the Huangpu River by Mr. ZHAO. Being passionate and strong-willed, Mr. ZHAO writes for a magazine, but still fails to hold his job down. Atang, a student majoring in fine arts, dresses the windows at a store, considering optimism to be a virtue. Big LIU is the first person to get out of the crossroads. He returns to his hometown, which has been occupied by the enemy, to fight the invading army.

Because of a misunderstanding caused by wall-partitioning, Miss YANG and Mr. ZHAO do not know that their bothersome neighbours are the ones that they brushed past on the green tram. Trouble and happiness appear alternately, which also happens to young people today.

At the end, all the main cast jump out of the drama and tell a off-stage story concerning this classic film.
