YANG Li
YANG Li is a professor of Conducting Department at Central Conservatory of Music, Principal Conductor of Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, Resident Conductor of Beijing Philharmonic Choir, Director and Conductor of the Beijing Philharmonic Choir and Vice Chairman of the China Chorus Association. In 1990, he graduated from the Conducting Department of Central Conservatory of Music. In 1992, he went to Stuttgart Conservatory in Germany and graduated with an Artist Diploma in 1997. YANG Li became the first musician from China to win the H. von Karajan Foundation scholarship. In 2006, he was awarded, "Best Conductor" of the 2nd Busan Choral Festival and Competition. In 2011, he won "Best Conductor" of The Singing World - The 7th Y. Falik International Choir and Vocal Ensembles Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia. In 2015, he was also awarded "Best Conductor” in the 54th SEGHIZZI Choral Singing Competition in Goriza, Italy. In August 2017, the Choir, with YANG Li as its conductor, won top prize at the 65th International Guido d'Arezzo Polyphonic Contest held in Italy.
In recent years, he has often been invited to serve as judge in important choral competitions at home and abroad, including the 3rd Busan Choral Festival and Competition in 2007 and 61st Japan Chorus Competition in 2008, 7th world Choir Games held in Cincinnati, USA in July 2012, 8th World Choir Competition held in Riga, Latvia, in July 2014, and 55th SEGHIZZI International Choral Singing Competition in Gorizia, Italy, in 2016.
While focusing on music education and concert performance, YANG also plays an important role in the academic world, publishing in professional journals including Journal of the Central Conservatory of Music and Journal of Tianjin Conservatory of Music. He published a text book on conducting titled Modern Conducting Techniques in 2016.
JIANG Pan
JIANG Pan is a teacher at the School of Music of Capital Normal University, Conductor of the Beijing Philharmonic Choir, Deputy Secretary-General of the Conducting Professional Committee of the Beijing Musicians Association, as well as expert and jury member of the Artistic Committee of the National Youth Arts Exhibition and Festival by the Central Conservatory of Music. Now she serves on the faculty of the Central Conservatory of Music and Shaoguang Choral Music Academy.
JIANG graduated from the China Conservatory of Music, where she studied under Prof. WU Lingfen, Prof. YANG Youqing and Prof. YANG Li, and was mentored by Prof. YANG Hongnian. She received her master’s degree from the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar in Germany, where she studied conducting with Prof. Jürgen Puschbeck, Prof. Nikolas Pasquet and Martin Hoff, conductor of the German State Opera (Deutsche Staatsoper), as well as piano art direction with Prof. Karl-Peter Kammerlander, head of the piano department. She is a doctoral student at the University of Music Saar (HfM Saar), Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Georg Grün, a conductor and Associate Dean of the university.
JIANG has collaborated with the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, Leipzig Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra and Chorus of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, Beijing Philharmonic Choir, Central Opera Choir, Youth Choir of Central Conservatory of Music, and Harmonia Choir. From 2016 to 2019, she participated in the Young Choral Conductor Training Programme by the China National Arts Fund, and twice in the Youth Creative Talent Funding Project (with chamber music A Visit to Utopia and stage performance Choral Concert respectively). In 2019, she won gold medal in the folk singing category and gold medal (highest score) in the children’s category of the 17th International Festival of Choral Art “The Singing World” in St. Petersburg, Russia.
