Grammy Award winner and globally acclaimed trumpet king Chris Botti, is to give a “Midnight Rose” concert during the NCPA May Festival. At 23:00 p.m. on May 25th, when tender music penetrates through the dome, Chris Botti will appear with his all-star band to light up the “Brilliant Night of Trumpet”!
As one of the most successful superstars to combine jazz with pop music, Chris Botti has been among the most sought-after global instrumentalists over the past 30 years. For many times, he has cooperated with Sting, Paul Simon, Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga and lots of other superstars in giving a perfect rendition of jazz alongside pop music. Many people seek after him because he gives the trumpet unlimited possibilities. Not confined to any certain musical style, he may choose to play jazz, classical or pop music. That is, there is always surprise.

Upon the release of his critically acclaimed album When I Fall in Love in 2004, trumpeter Chris Botti became one of the American instrumentalists best-liked by the audience. His success did not come from the traditional pop music scene only, and by working with PBS many times, he released four best-selling jazz albums, which were certified as gold and platinum records, winning him recognition from the Grammys. His album Impressions won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album, and his world tour ended with over million records sold. Botti gives every live performance with jazz as the core, but he is not confined to any certain genre. This implies that he is good at interpreting music in an innovative way.
The concert will be held with its repertoire like a “blind box”, i.e., Botti and his all-star band will play in random order in response to the live atmosphere. The repertoire contains some pieces from his new album Volume 1, which took him ten years to make, including Fix You, adapted from Coldplay’s song, Someday My Prince Will Come, the theme of the animation film Snow White, and My Funny Valentine, a hit song from Broadway, as well as some other pieces highly praised in the past, including classics from his Grammy-nominated albums, such as the world-famous song Emmanuel, Oscar-winning song Cinema Paradiso, and Deborah’s Theme, an interlude song in Once Upon a Time in America.
