Nan Melville for The New York Times A scene from American Ballet Theater's production of Don Quixote
The New York Philharmonic isn't the only arts organization planning a high-profile visit to Asia this fall. American Ballet Theater has announced that it will make its first visit to Beijing in November. The six-performance engagement will be the first by an American ballet company at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. Performances begin on Nov. 12 and run through Nov. 15, and include four performances of the full-length ballet Don Quixote, staged by Susan Jones and Kevin McKenzie, the company's artistic director, and two repertory programs, including works by the company's artist in residence, Alexei Ratmanksy, as well as Aszure Barton and Benjamin Millepied. The company previously performed in Hong Kong and Shanghai in 2000.
