Nestled in the heart of the National Centre for the Performing Arts is a tribute to the traditional theatre atmosphere of warmth and hospitality. With its silk embroidered wallpapers, the Theatre stages primarily traditional Chinese operas - including Peking opera and other local varieties - modern dramas and national song and dance shows.

The theatre has three balconies and seating for an audience of 1,035. Engineered with the latest technologies, the stage at the Theatre comprises the main stage, two side stages and a rear stage.

Video demonstration of stage operations The main stage has 13 theatrical elevating blocks and two elevating platforms. The stage is particularly suitable for traditional Chinese opera performances. The Theatre is equipped with five single dressing suites, eight medium-sized dressing rooms, three large dressing-rooms, one conductors' lounge suite, three large dressing-rooms for performers and four rehearsal rooms.
