China Radio and Film Symphony Orchestra
China Radio and Film Symphony Orchestra, known as one of the earliest national musical organizations in China, was founded in March 1949. Since then, the Orchestra has made music for more than two thousand films and TV dramas, and produced a great number of records, tapes and CDs.

The Orchestra has collaborated with renowned international conductors, composers, instrumentalists and dancers from the U.S., Germany, France, Japan, Philippines, Russia and Italy and staged many symphonic concerts, well-known operas and ballets. In recent years, the Orchestra presented types of concerts, especially presentingl popular audio-visual concerts on film music delivered through large screens. It is with diverse styles, perfect coordination and marvelous skill in music interpretation win high recognition from the musical circle and enthusiasts both home and aboard.

Conductor: Fan Tao
Fan Tao is a national first-grade conductor, graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music studying with famous conductor and educator Huang Xiaotong. He has been the standing conductor of Film Symphony Orchestra of China Radio Art Troupe since 1995.

His collaborations with orchestras include Finnish National Radio Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Avanti Chamber Orchestra of Finland, Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra, Oberlin Conservatory Symphony Orchestra of the U. S., Florida University Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Opera House, China National Opera House, the National Ballet of China and China Opera and Dance Drama Theatre. In addition, he has also cooperated with excellent domestic and international performers and choirs and recorded a large number of records and film and TV music. In 2007, Mr. Fan was award Top 10 Asian Popular Records and Best Conductor of the Year.

With consummate skills, his conducting is exquisite, passionate and full of tension. In May 2000, he participated in the Finnish Sibelius International Conductor Competition and won the Special Award of the Appraisal Committee. The Chief of Amsterdam Concertgebouw and of Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra praised him as "an excellent professional conductor" and "with strong ability in controlling the band". Stravinsky's Rite of Spring conducted by Fan Taodeeply impressed Mr. Salonen, the Chief Supervisor and conductor of Los Angeles Philharmonic. He was the first Chinese to win a prize in the competition, and also granted the Sibelius Fund and pursued further study under the instruction of Mr. Salonen. In the annual Finnish Summer Festival, Fan showed again his conducting skills and was well received among Finnish people after the live broadcasting on Finnish national TV channel.

In 2001, he went to the US with full scholarship to learn conducting from famous conductor and educator Phillip Spurgeon. In 2003, he was invited to conduct a series of distinctive modern works by contemporary American composers in the 11th Florida Modern Festival. Some of the works made their debut in the festival, and all composers went to enjoy the performances. In September of the same year, he, together with FSU Chamber Ensemble, held successfully a concert on modern works in Carnegie Hall, New York which was highly appreciated by local media and composers.

In 2006, Fan Tao conducted ASEAN Symphony Orchestra in a concert in Angkor Wat. The orchestra is composed of musicians from 11 ASEAN countries. In July 2007, he was invited to be a member of the final referee for the 13th Annual Oberlin International Piano Competition.
